GREEN BEANS ALERT:
Central Florida is at the tail end of their green bean season and 10 straight days of heavy rains. The rains have limited their ability to pick. Georgia is still very early in their season and weather is also an issue. Green beans and processed snipped beans are at extreme shortage. Our supply of raw green beans is limited. Processed green beans (snipped bean) are extremely limited.
It may be time to think about another vegetable for the short term. We have in stock snap peas, asparagus, broccoli and aspiration.
We will do everything possible to keep you updated on the status of green beans.
Thanks,
Premier Produce

BERRIES:
Strawberries California strawberry production this week is down due to recent and upcoming rain. All growing areas have been affected, some more than others. We can expect to see lower than normal quality and defects such as pin rot, white shoulders, bruising, soft and water soaked berries. Typically it is a 7-10 day cycle form stripping to new fresh fruit. In this time period volume and availability will be down. With the current diminished state of quality, we advise to only order what is necessary due to shortened shelf life, do not over book.
LEAF LETTUCE:
The romaine and green leaf market is stronger with all suppliers. Cool temperatures in the Salinas Valley has slowed production down. The quality has been average at best. Some quality defects that continue to surface include insects, fringe burn, tip burn, and wind burn.
LETTUCE:
The lettuce market has picked up steam with light supplies. Most suppliers still have to fill orders with 30 count lettuce. This is because lettuce in not sizing up properly. Las Cruces, Mexico is in full production now for those interested. Growers continue to be behind in scheduled harvesting in Salinas for at least 7 more days. This is due to cold temperatures and windy conditions in the Salinas Valley from previous weeks. The Salinas Valley over this past weekend still has cool temperatures and rain. Yields continue to be low on this commodity.
